The inspiration for visiting California was largely to tour wine country. The many culinary experiences, including some of our favorite restaurants, like Bistro Jeanty and Bottega Napa Valley, were motivation as well. After wine country we drove the scenic coast south to Big Sur and stayed at the Post Ranch Inn. The property is known for its breathtaking views of the Pacific ocean. The resort's numerous and varied accommodations were all outstanding.
During our stay, we hiked, took advantage of the in house gym, attended outdoor yoga, and visited the quaint and charming Carmel by the Sea. And last, but certainly not least, we attended falconry, where we received an education on impressive birds, especially owls and falcons. Wow!!! The Post Ranch offered splendid gourmet meals relying primarily on the in house garden; local restaurants served delicious local fare in rustic forest settings as well.
